چکیده

A proposed method for estimating the electrical conductivity of cement paste pore solution at 25 °C is based on the concentrations of OR -, K + and Na + .The approach uses an equation that is a function of the solution ionic strength, and requires a single coefficient for each ionic species. To test the method, the conductivity of solutions containing mixtures of potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide with molar ratios of4:1, 2:1 and 1:1, and having ionic strengths varying from 0.15 to 2.00 moVI were measured in the laboratory and compared to predicted values. The proposed equation predicts the conductivity of the solutions to within 8% over the concentration range investigated. By comparison, the dilute electrolyte assumption that conducti,'ity is linearly proportional to concentration is in error by 36% at I mol/! and in error by 55% at 2 mol/l. The significance and utility of th,~ proposed equation is discussed in the context of predicting ionic transport in cement-based systems. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.

Solubility behavior of Ca-, S-, Al-, and Si-bearing solid phases in Portland cement pore solutions as a function of hydration time

The concentrations of Ca, S, Al, Si, Na, and K in the pore solutions of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and white Portland cement (WPC) pastes were measured during the first 28 days of hydration at room temperature. Saturation indices (SI) with respect to various solid phases known to occur in cement pastes were calculated from a thermodynamic analysis of the elemental concentrations, resulting ...

The Effect of Sulfate on the Electrical Properties of Cement Pastes

Exposure conditions significantly affect the resistance of cement to sulfate attack. This article investigates the effect of sulfate on electrical conductivity of ordinary Portland cement (OPC). Cement paste specimens were prepared according to water/cement (W/C) ratio equal 0.25 either free of sodium sulfate or its addition with concentrations of 5000ppm, 10000ppm and 15000ppm by weight. This ...

Effect of Fine-Ground Ceramic Admixture on Early Age Properties of Cement Paste

Properties of cement pastes with fine-ground ceramics used as an alternative binder replacing Portland cement up to 20% of its mass are investigated. At first, the particle size distribution of cement and fine-ground ceramics is measured using laser analyser. Then, the material properties are studied in the early hardening period up to 28 days. The hydration process of studied materials is moni...

Effect of hydration temperature on the solubility behavior of Ca-, S-, Al-, and Si-bearing solid phases in Portland cement pastes

The concentrations of Ca, S, Al, Si, Na, and K in the pore solutions of ordinary Portland cement and white Portland cement pastes were measured during the first 28 d of curing at temperatures ranging from 5–50 jC. Saturation indices with respect to solid phases known to form in cement paste were calculated from a thermodynamic analysis of the elemental concentrations. Calculated saturation leve...

Influence of Carbon Nanotube Clustering on Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Cement Pastes

Given the continued challenge of dispersion, for practical purposes, it is of interest to evaluate the impact of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) at different states of clustering on the eventual performance properties of cement paste. This study evaluated the clustering of MWCNTs and the resultant effect on the mechanical and electrical properties when incorporated into cement paste. Cem...
